What makes 2cents different from other social media platforms?
Old-fashioned Social Media:
Traditional social media platforms depend on the outdated, ad-based business model, which incentivizes them to hoard and control your data. They have full control over your data, as well as your account, identity, and your content. If your account ever gets banned for any reason, you lose all of your progress permanently.
Here’s how 2cents is different:
1. Ad-free: Ads are opt-in only, and if you opt in, you get paid! They are also private and anonymous so we don’t need your data.
2. Censorship Resistant – You Control Your Data & Identity: Because 2cents is built on an independent blockchain, DeSo, there is no central authority controlling your data, content, or accounts. They fully belong to you, and you only.
3. You Get Paid: Both users & creators can get paid for their content and earn money directly in-app. Get tipped on posts, earn paid subscribers, and have user invest in your “Creator Coin”.
Do I get paid for ads?
If you choose to opt-in for ads, you get paid directly from our earned ad-revenue. We split ad revenue with our users 50/50. 50% for us and 50% is equally distributed between users.
This creates the best possible ad experience for both users and advertisers. Only users who want to see ads see them, greatly increasing advertising accuracy.
How is 2cents censorship resistant?
Because 2cents is built on the DeSo Blockchain, we are on a decentralized environment. This means there’s no central authority controlling your content or identity.
Our default content view is filtered for the most beneficial and relevant content, but if you choose to view the full spectrum of content, you can do so with “Wild West mode”, revealing content which might be filtered by community moderators or is typically censored on traditional web2 platforms. On 2cents, you’re in control of your experience
Can I cash out my money from 2cents?
Yes! All funds will be in your in-app wallet which will be directly transferred as US dollars right into your bank account!
What are pennies?
Pennies are an in-app currency enabled by DeSo. They enable you to leave tips on posts and can be directly sent/received by users. They can also be swapped for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, or US dollars, and then transferred out of the app into other wallets or your bank account.
